Working at Height Requires More Than a Tall Ladder

Under Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act, all workers performing elevated tasks are required to hold a valid Working from Heights certification. Operating elevated and aerial work platforms requires additional operator-specific training. These aren't optional — they're legal requirements that protect your workers, your property, and your liability exposure.

What equipment do you use for high-access cleaning?

We use certified elevated work platforms (EWPs) and aerial work platforms (AWPs) matched to the specific site requirements — scissor lifts for open indoor areas, boom lifts for exterior and irregular access, and extension ladders or poles for lighter-reach jobs. All platform operators hold Working from Heights and Elevated Work Platform certifications as required under Ontario OHSA. Equipment selection is determined during a site assessment before any work begins.

What surfaces can be cleaned at height?

We clean high windows, skylights, atrium glass, clerestory windows, curtain-wall exteriors, exposed ceiling structures, industrial ductwork, steel beams, overhead light fixtures, warehouse racking systems, mezzanine surfaces, building facades, soffits, exterior cladding, and any interior or exterior surface requiring certified elevated access. Is your team certified for working at heights in Ontario?

Yes. All Binx technicians performing elevated work hold valid Working from Heights certification as required under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Our operators are also trained and certified on the specific elevated work platform equipment used on each job. Before any elevated work begins, we conduct a site assessment to confirm equipment clearances, floor load ratings, and safe egress.

Can high-access cleaning be scheduled around our operations?

Yes. Most high-access cleaning is scheduled outside business hours, on weekends, or during planned shutdowns to minimize disruption. For facilities that cannot fully close, we section off work areas with appropriate safety barriers and coordinate with your facilities manager to keep other areas operational during the job.

Can high-access cleaning be integrated with our regular cleaning contract?

Absolutely. Many clients schedule periodic high-access cleaning — quarterly or semi-annually — alongside their regular office or facility cleaning contract with Binx. Having a single provider for both routine and specialized cleaning simplifies coordination and invoicing.

Yes. All Binx crews carry $5 million in commercial general liability insurance and full WSIB coverage. We maintain a current WSIB Clearance Certificate and can provide certificates of insurance specific to elevated work on request for your property or project records.
